Congratulations to Minds Eye Volunteer Alexa Kissinger,
Grand Prize Winner of the Muny Karaoke Contest!
The Muny, in partnership with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, one of many publications read on-air at Minds Eye, invited theatre-goers to sing their favorite show tunes on the Muny plaza during a four week contest. Performances were recorded and posted online at STLtoday.cpm/entertainment, and readers had the opportunity to vote for their favorite performer. Alexa’s rendition of “What I Did For Love” from “A Chorus Line” put her in first place after the first round. Following the announcement of winners from all rounds, readers chose the grand prize winner by voting on winners from all four rounds. Alexa won the grand prize and was declared the grand prize winner of the Muny Karaoke contest! Alexa’s prize included dinner for four at the Muny’s Culver Pavilion on Aug. 10, four tickets to see “Fiddler on the Roof,” and an autographed copy of “The Muny: Songs of St. Louis Summers” by St. Louis Post-Dispatch theatre critic Judith Newmark.
Alexa began volunteering for Minds Eye as an on-air reader in 2007, serving the blind and print disabled community alongside her mother, Priscilla, and sister, Gabby. She is also the reigning Miss O’Fallon (Ill.) and a recent graduate of O’Fallon Township High School. Alexa’s next challenge will be beginning her freshman year at Arizona State University this fall. Minds Eye wishes Alexa the best of luck and is proud to have her as a part of our volunteer family!
