Saint Louis Woman to serve on the Board of the International Association of Audio Information Services (IAAIS)
Kim Walsh, president of the International Association of Audio Information Services (IAAIS), announced the appointment of Saint Louisan Marjorie Williams to its board of directors.
“As a nonprofit group representing radio-reading and audio information services worldwide, we’re very pleased to welcome Marjorie to serve on our board as a Public Director.” said Walsh. “Her background in public relations and passion for our mission will be helpful in communicating with the public, the radio industry, and our governments about the need for accessible technologies like reading services.”
Williams is the Executive Director of Minds Eye Information Service, the Saint Louis area radio reading service for the blind and print disabled located in Belleville, IL. Under Williams’ leadership, Minds Eye was recently awarded the Public Awareness Award from the IAAIS for the coverage surrounding the Ultimate Saint Louis Beepball Championship.
“I am honored to join the IAAIS’s Board of Directors,” Williams said. “As our population in Saint Louis and throughout the world ages, it is important that reading services are available to provide our neighbors with timely information from printed publications. People need to be aware of the necessity of organizations within this industry.”
Williams earned her B.A. in Broadcast and Electronic Communication from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI and is currently pursuing her M.B.A. from Lindenwood University. She also serves as Treasurer for the Illinois Association of Reading Services. She has previously served as the Program Vice President of the St. Louis Council of Directors of Volunteer Services, now Metropolitan Volunteer Management Association, and on the United Way of Greater Saint Louis’s Volunteer Program Certification Panel. As a Gold Award winner, Williams has also served as a volunteer with the River Bluffs Girl Scout Council.
Founded in 1977, the International Association of Audio Information Services (IAAIS) is a non-profit association of independently operated broadcast entities that provide reading services and specialized programming for people who cannot see, hold or comprehend standard printed matter in more than 100 radio markets throughout the US, Canada, and abroad.
