Minds Eye Information Service Hosts Trivia Night
Minds Eye Information Service will hold a Trivia Night fundraiser on November 9, 2007 in the Visitor’s Center at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, IL. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and trivia begins at 7:00 p.m. The cost is $90 for tables of no more than eight and all proceeds will benefit Minds Eye. Participants are encouraged to pre-register by calling 618-394-6221 or 314-241-3400 ext. 6221.
John Weidlich, a blind man and the station’s Program Director, will be the host for the evening. John has worked at Minds Eye for over 30 years and brings a twist to Trivia Night. “The unique thing is that I’m reading the questions from Braille,” says Weidlich. “Trivia night for me is about reading the questions and just having fun telling jokes and keeping the crowd having fun.”
The three teams with the highest scores will win cash prizes. Mulligans, raffle tickets, and 50/50 tickets will be available for purchase and many attendees will receive door prizes. Participants may bring their own food and a cash bar will be available to purchase drinks.
In the past, Trivia Night has raised over $5,000 to benefit the work of the organization and has proven to be a great time for all.
Minds Eye is a non-profit radio reading service located on the grounds of the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. The closed circuit radio station lends radios free of charge to people who are blind, have low vision, or are print disabled so that they can hear broadcasts of volunteers reading newspapers, magazines, books, and
retail circulars. The service reaches nearly 1,000 people in their own homes and the residents of more than 80 nursing homes, retirement centers, and hospitals in the Saint Louis and Southern Illinois areas.
